Maestri di Fabbrica, Florence

While the main streets and piazzas of Florence are lined with shops by big international brands, it was refreshing and rewarding to explore the narrow streets and lanes of which Florence has plenty.

Strolling in the city center, we came across this shop – Maestri di Fabbrica (Masters’ Workshop) which was remarkable in the very eclectic range of goods on offer.

The shop was housed inside a Renaissance building with a series of frescoed rooms.

It was fun to roam from room to room, not knowing what the next room would offer. One can get lost in that shop because of the range of merchandises as well as the layout.

<< Knives for cooking or eating.

Color-coordinated tableware.

Every thing in this shop was well-crafted, and some designs were fun and original.

Costume jewellery >>

<< A decent collection of home fragrances.

None of the products on offer came from a well-known brand, yet they were all made by designers.

A wine bar for tastings, and a wine shop that sells wine from many regions of Italy.

Rustic ceramics for a country kitchen.

There was also a small eatery that serves a daily buffet, and one can eat at the many tables and chairs set up in various rooms.

Paintings on the walls were also for sale.

There was even a collection of books on the arts.

Maestri di Fabbrica is a great place to find a unique souvenir or gift. The shop is at Borgo degli Albizi, 68R in central Florence.
