Banana Flambe – Betty Don’t Die

Sue organized a surprise birthday dinner with friends for me at Les Halles at Park Avenue last night. The evening concluded with desserts, one of which was the banana flambe prepared tableside. Our waitress wheeled over a little serving trolley with stove, and parked it next to Betty.  Sprinkled with powered sugar, the bananas were drenched in Goslings rum and Grand Marnier, and lit.  For those of you who have not met Betty, she has lovely long hair.  You gotta love July’s expression of concern for Betty’s safety.  Sitting at a safe distance away, Evan was our cameraman.  Sue said it was the sweetest bananas she ever had.  Thank you guys for dinner and the fun evening.
