During our extended stay in Paris, we went to celebrate my birthday at Le Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. Despite having visited Paris several times before, we’d never ventured up the tower—largely due to our aversion to waiting in long lines.

Jules Verne is famous for his pioneering science-fiction novels, such as Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1864), From the Earth to the Moon (1865), and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1869–70). In the 2010s, he was the most translated French author in the world. A young Chris read translated and abridged versions of his books back then.
We had a 1pm reservation at the restaurant on a November day. While the sky was overcast, it was not hazy.
Le Jules Verne, nestled on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, offers an elevated dining experience both literally and gastronomically. Known for its modern French cuisine, the restaurant presents a sophisticated, yet understated ambiance that emphasizes the breathtaking views of Paris through floor-to-ceiling windows.
With almost 360-degree freedom and 115 meters above Paris (nearly 400 feet), many visitors (us included) think that this is the level for best views of the city, with human-scale vistas over the rooftops of Paris. At the time of our visit, the restaurant had one Michelin star. In 2024, Michelin Guide awarded Le Jules Verne a second star.

We kept the menu but did not match it with the food that arrived. This could have been “Le Crabe Au parfum de Curry, Pomelo thai“.

La Saint-Jacques Fine lamelles au citron jaune, Oursin poêlée, Crème au Caviar
La Langoustine Préparée en ravioli, Crème de Céleri, fine gelée aux Algues
Ugly dish but did not mind eating it.

Le Chevreuil Rôti embeurrée de Choux, Sauce poivrade au Fois gras
Le Mandarine Meringue crroquante, Sorbet et Miel de Coriandre
… and last but not least, my birthday treat with a piece of chocolate which says Joyeux Anniversaire.
Very thankful of Sue’s company, the meal, and the sights which added up to a super memorable experience. Happy birthday to me (Chris).
